Located 20 km away from Delhi, Noida has a population of more than one million. Due to the increased dependence on public and private transportation for commuters, the proposal of Noida Metro route map was put forward.
Noida Metro Rail Corporation Limited (NMRC), a Joint Venture Company of Government of India and Government of Uttar Pradesh is the company behind the planning, building and establishing of Noida Metro.
The main motive behind the development of Noida Metro is to link Noida and Greater Noida cities in Uttar Pradesh, India. Since its inception, NMRC has been successful in providing safe, reliable and eco-friendly transportation services to people.
Noida Metro is a mass rapid transportation system. Also known as the Aqua Line, it was inaugurated on 25 January, 2019. With the opening of the Aqua Line, there is a huge relief amongst commuters travelling between Greater Noida, some sectors of Noida and Delhi.
Today, Aqua line metro covers the length of 29.707 km daily. It runs from Sector 52 in Noida to Depot metro station in Greater Noida and consists of 21 Noida metro stations. Out of the 21 stations, 15 are in Noida and 6 in Greater Noida.
The entire Noida metro route is elevated and there is an interchange station with the Delhi Metro at Noida Sector 51 metro station. All stations are equipped with platform screen doors to prevent commuters from falling onto the tracks.
The fare for Aqua Line has been fixed to Rs 10 to Rs 50, depending upon the distance. The services of Aqua Line usually start at 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. However, Noida metro timings for Sunday is 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM. The total trip duration for this route is approximately 44 minutes.
As the Noida Metro has a separate ticketing system, one cannot use Delhi Metro smart cards or tokens to commute on the Aqua Line. One needs to use NMRC admit card to travel on the Aqua Line route.
